Jack Maskell scored a dramatic stoppage time winner to beat Radcliffe at Blackwell Meadows.

Quakers overcame the handicap of losing Elliot Forbes and Scott Barrow during the course of the game to injury, but still put together some strong late pressure that pushed Radcliffe back and eventually earned them the points. It was their second straight win and puts them seven points behind the play offs.

The visitors had a chance in the opening minute when a deep cross came over from the right for Scott Duxbury to volley wide at the far post.

Quakers nearly scored themselves on 8 minutes when Ben Hedley picked the ball up on the right, cut inside, and curled a left foot shot towards the top corner which Mateusz Hewelt just managed to tip over the bar.

Quakers were forced into an early sub when Elliot Forbes, who had picked up an early knock, came off and was replaced by Charlie Stirland.

Peter Jameson then had to be alert to push a deflected cross by Duxbury around the post.

Some good play involving Hatfield and Hetherington found Cornish in space on the right, but his low cross rebounded off a defender and them off him for a goal kick.

Jameson came to Quakers’ rescue on 25 minutes when George Glendon ran at the heart of the Darlington  defence and set up Danny Greenfield ten yards out, but the keeper just managed to block with his outstretched right foot

Quakers responded with a cross from the right by Hedley for Jack Maskell to head on to the roof of the net.

They had a chance when Cedric Main flicked the ball on for Hatfield in the area and a defender put the ball out for a corner, but the referee said that it was Hatfield who had played the ball last and gave a goal kick.

Radcliffe were forced into a change when Glendon went off injured and was replaced by Thornley.

But Quakers took the lead on 42 minutes. Ben Hedley swung a free kick into the area which Flint laid off outside the box for Maskell to score with a delightful right foot shot into the top corner of the net and leave the keeper helpless, his fifth goal of the season

Half time 1-0

Darlington started the second half with plenty of promise, and Maskell found Cornish with a good crossfield pass. He in turn found Hedley, whose cross was just too far for Maskell.

Quakers were then forced back and Hedley and then Barrow had to make good clearances under pressure on their own six yard line.

Quakers then brought off Hetherington and replaced him with Ben Andreucci.

But they nearly made it 2-0 on 56 minutes when Barrow whipped a low free kick in from the left, and Lees, coming in volleyed first time just wide of the left hand post.

But Radcliffe levelled on 58 minutes when the ball came in from the right for Brad Jackson to fire into the roof of the net from six yards.

Quakers made their third sub, Hazeem Bakre coming on for Cornish on 62 minutes, then Jarrett Rivers came on for the injured Barrow and went to right back with Hedley switching to the left.

Bakre made a good run into the box on 73 minutes and set up Rivers, who fired wide of the right hand post.

Andreucci then made a good run in from the right and set up Flint, who fired straight at the keeper.

Main had a shot blocked after he got into the box, then Hedley broke from defence and fired wide from 25 yards.

But in the fourth minute of stoppage time, Hatfield floated a free kick into the box for Maskell to slip away from his marker to nod past the keeper to the huge cheers of the fans
