Steve Looks Ahead to an Exciting Pre-Season

Exclusive audio interview ahead of pre-season training this Thursday.

Manager Steve Watson is eager to get started with the squad from day one. "It's been a long break, and I can't wait to see everyone back on the pitch," The manager is looking forward to integrating new faces into the team and evaluating potential additions during pre-season.

Challenging Pre-Season Friendlies

The team has lined up seven pre-season friendlies, including matches against Doncaster, Harrogate, York, Bishop Auckland, Hebburn, Morpeth, and Dunston. Steve emphasised the importance of competitive fixtures to prepare the squad for the upcoming season. "We believe in getting fitness through playing football," he said. "The friendlies will provide a mix of challenges and help us get ready for the season ahead."

Building a Strong Squad

With 13 players already signed, including new recruits Jack Maskell and Joe Leesley, Steve feels confident about the squad's potential. "We've strengthened in key areas and look forward to working with the new and returning players," he said. He also revealed the club has an offer out to a top goalkeeper to replace Tommy Taylor, with loan options also in place.

Boost the Budget Success

Steve praised the fans for their incredible support through the Boost the Budget campaign, which raised £189,000. "We couldn't do it without them," he acknowledged. The funds have been crucial in signing new talent and retaining key players, and he is hopeful that the fans will see the benefits on the pitch.

Looking Ahead to the Season

With the season set to start on 10th August, Steve anticipates a tough but exciting campaign. "It's a competitive league with some strong teams, but we're building a squad to compete at the top" he stated confidently.
