Darlington Reserves were very unlucky to lose 1-0 against Wearside League leaders Jarrow at Eastbourne on Saturday.

The ressies hit the post in the first half, and were denied on another couple of occasion by good saves from the Jarrow keeper.

Joint manager Mark Fanning said; “When the opposition bench come over to you at the end of the game and say that you deserved something, then you know that you must have done something right and you’re not looking at the game through rose-tinted glasses. That’s what happened to us on Saturday.

“They had four chances and took one, we had six chances and didn’t take any.

“It took us a while to get going because some lads missed last week’s game, and for the first 15 minutes we were all over the place.

“We gradually got back into the game, and we played some good, skilful football at times, and we were a bit unlucky, especially when we hit the post.

“It’s a shame that our six game winning run ended, but we’ll just have to go and build another good run before the end of the season.”

There was a good crowd at Eastbourne, and Mark said; “We’d like to thank everyone for their support and encouragement.”

Quakers remain seventh in the table, and their next game is at home to fifth placed Boldon CA this Saturday, kick off 2pm.
