Wolviston 3 Darlington Reserves 1

The reserves let a half time lead slip away when they were beaten 3-1 at Wolviston in the Wearside League on Wednesday night.

The lads played some good football in the first half, but they were outfought in the second.

Joint manager Andrew Jinks said; “We looked comfortable at times in the first half, and played some good football. But Wolviston slowly got on top in the second half, and when they got back to 1-1, they looked more likely to go on and win. Wolviston were more physical than us and got on top.”

Vinny Steele scored his third goal in two games to put the reserves ahead, and keeper Matty Bancroft made sure they stayed ahead with a penalty save before half time.

But Wolviston drew level on the hour, and then scored twice late in the game.

The reserves are at home to Boldon CA on Saturday.
