Darlington have today signed highly-experienced goalkeeper Adam Bartlett following his release from Hartlepool.

Adam, 31, has agreed a contract with Quakers and he goes straight into the squad for Wednesday night’s home game with Bradford Park Avenue at Blackwell Meadows.

Darlington manager Martin Gray said; “Adam has got plenty of experience in the Football League and the National League, and he is a very good addition to the squad.”

Adam started his career at Newcastle United, and worked his way through the academy to reserve team level, but didn’t break into the first team.

He joined Blyth in 2005 and played for them for three years in the Conference North before joining Kidderminster in the Conference National, and was named Conference National goalkeeper of the year in 2009. He had also had one game for Cambridge that season in the play off final as an emergency keeper!

He then moved into the Football League with Hereford United, and made 110 appearances for them before moving back north to Gateshead in 2012. He started 130 games for them, before joining Hartlepool in the summer of 2015.

He made 29 appearances for Pools, 14 of which have been this season in League Two and cup competitions. He was on the bench for Hartlepool’s defeat by Wycombe last Saturday.

Adam, who is a qualified coach, said; "It has worked out well for me and signing for Darlington has topped it all off for me. I was released by Hartlepool in order to become a goalkeeping coach of Under 9s through to Under 16s at Middlesbrough, and I've signed for a big non league club that has a big fanbase and has had some phenomenal success over the last four or five years. I've had a look at the rest of the fixtures, and there's no reason why we can't make the play offs. "

We would like to wish Adam a long and happy stay with us.
