Darlington continue their pre season build up at Bishop Auckland on Friday night (kick off 7pm).

Quakers are boosted by their excellent display against Newcastle United Under 23s on Monday night, a game that they lost 2-1, but with better luck in front of goal, could have finished on the winning side.

Manager Martin Gray said; “It was a very encouraging performance, the players worked very hard and showed great attitude in the second half. They put Newcastle under a lot of pressure and dominated play, and could have got an equaliser.

“I’m happy with the way things are going so far in pre-season, but there is still lots of work to do before the season kicks off.”

There’s the possibility of Tom Portas being involved as he continues his recovery from injury, but he’ll be checked before kick off.

Young striker Dale Milburn, who made a good impact when he came on the field against Newcastle, is also included in the squad.

Don’t forget that the game kicks off at 7pm at Heritage Park, the scene of so many happy memories for Quakers in our four years or so there.

Quakers’ next friendly is at Gateshead on Wednesday night, while the reserve team is at Crook Town on Saturday afternoon, kick off 3pm.
