A pic taken in March 1967 from The Northern Echo archives shows Darlington’s groundsman Vic Myers checking over one of the machines used to help him keep both the football and cricket pitches in good condition at Feethams.
The caption on the picture read: “His job isn’t all grass-cutting and watering. There’s a lot more to it – and as the only groundsman employed there the responsibility rests with Mr Myers, whatever the weather may do.”
Mr Myers lived in the house beside the turnstiles at Feethams which looked onto the cricket pitch.
