Dan Chillingworth is pictured scoring against Altrincham back in December 2001, the striker helping Darlington to a 2-1 FA Cup win at Moss Lane.

A clearance by Andy Collett divided Altrincham's defence and Danny Mellanby flicked the ball on for Chillingworth to apply the finish from 14 yards, with Neil Wainwright getting Quakers’ other goal in a second round tie which was shown that evening on Match of the Day.

It was Chillingworth’s fourth appearance during a month’s loan from Cambridge United, which the pacey striker wanted to extend having played regularly and made a good impression.

The 20-year-old played five games during his time in the North-East, also scoring in the infamous 7-1 loss at Scunthorpe when referee Paul Alcock sent off both Mark Ford and Barry Conlon.

However, a change of manager at Cambridge – John Taylor replacing John Beck – led to Chillingworth being recalled to the Abbey Stadium.
