National North Round Up 02/11/2018

The latest from our division

On Tuesday night a full set off fixtures took place in the National North to finish October's games.

We had to settle for a point at high flying Bradford PA despite leading 2-0 at one stage. The 2-2 draw leaves us in 14th place going into this weekend’s matches.

League leaders Chorley suffered their second successive defeat this time 3-0 away to Stockport County. Matthew Warburton came off the bench to score all three goals in the final twenty minutes for County who moved up to tenth four points off the last playoff spot.

Kidderminster Harriers are now only one point behind the leaders after smashing Leamington away from home. Daniel Bradley, Declan Weeks, Ashley Chambers and Lee Vaughan scored the goals for Harriers in a 4-0 win.

Spennymoor remain fourth after they dispatched York City 3-0 at the Brewery Field. Stephen Brogan opened the scoring with striker Glen Taylor scoring the other two.

Brackley leapt above Boston in the race for the playoffs after beating them 3-1 away from home. Shane Byrne and Connor Hall put the visitors two up before the break, before Jordan Slew gave Boston hope. However, it would be Brackley who took all the points as Byrne sealed victory late on with his second goal.

Chester also moved ahead of Boston following a comfortable home win against Ashton United. Anthony Dudley scored twice, along with goals from Steven Howson and Craig Mahon for Chester. Bradley Jackson scored a late consolation for Ashton but they fell to a 4-1 defeat.

Telford are outside the play off places on goal difference after being held at home by Hereford. George Lloyd gave the Bulls the lead, before Dominic Udoh earned a 1-1 draw for Telford.

Altrincham brushed aside struggling Nuneaton with a 4-0 win. Owen Dale put Alty ahead right on half time. John Johnston scored twice more before Josh Hancock sealed the win late on.

FC United remain in the bottom three despite drawing with Alfreton. Joshua Wallen put FC United ahead but Alfreton came away with a 1-1 draw thanks to James Clifton equalizing two minutes from time.

Blyth moved further away form the relegation zone with a 3-1 win on the road at Guiseley. Aaron Cunningham put Blyth ahead inside the first few minutes, with Kingsley James brining the hosts level from the spot. However, Dan Maguire once again was the Spartans hero as he scored either side of half time to grab the three points.

The final game saw bottom of the table Southport earn a 2-2 draw at home to Curzon Ashton. David Morgan put Port ahead after 15 minutes before two quick fire goals in the second half from Oliver Crankshaw and Ryan Brooke appeared to have given the Nash the points. However, Dion Charles equalised with ten minutes to go.
