Kendal Town v Darlington Preview

This weekend Darlington look for their fourth straight league victory when they travel to Kendal Town.

The game was controversially abandoned after 15 minutes at the start of the year due to a waterlogged pitch. Despite the original fixture passing more than one inspection, the game still kicked-off much to the surprise of all at the ground.

The side produced a very impressive performance last week in the 5-1 victory at Harrogate, which may lead to Martin Gray making few changes to his starting eleven this weekend.

Chris Hunter was withdrawn from the side just before kick-off due to a ligament problem and it is unclear how long he will be out for.

Alan White will return to the side after serving his one game suspension last week. Liam Hatch took Hunter’s place in the starting line-up last week, however it is likely that White will return to partner Gary Brown in the centre of defence.

On loan defender Andrew Cartwright was impressive on his debut at right-back and he is expected to stay in the position. Adam Mitchell is still suspended for the weekend following his straight red card away to Salford.

The fixture between the two sides at Heritage Park on bank holiday Monday, back in August, saw the Quakers run out 7-0 winners. Kendal had two players sent off inside the first ten minutes of the game, with Terry Galbraith scoring two of the goals, both from the penalty spot.

The mint cakes have had an indifferent season in which they have mostly been sat in mid-table. Their start to 2015 has continued in the same vain, with their last two games against Clitheroe and Spennymoor Town seeing them concede ten goals.

Kendal’s biggest threat this weekend is likely to be the division’s third top scorer, Jordan Connerton. Connerton has scored 18 goals in the league this season and is only behind Nathan Cartman and Droylsden’s Ciaran Kilheeney .

Salford City will expect to pick up maximum points this weekend, as they host struggling Prescot Cables. Elsewhere Northwich Victoria travel to Lancaster City having just lost the reverse league fixture two weeks ago. Spennymoor Town host Mossley.

For Darlington the game is followed by another away fixture on Tuesday night at Farsley AFC.
