Salford City continued their fine start to the season, as they beat Nantwich Town to progress to the second qualifying round. Two goals in the final 15 minutes won the game for them 2-0, Gareth Seddon and Danny Webber the scorers. They are rewarded with a trip to Ashton United a week on Saturday.

Spennymoor Town also progressed after beating local rivals Bishop Auckland. Bishop twice equalised, however Michael Roberts secured a 3-2 win for Spennymoor, who now face Northern League opposition again in the next round, as they travel to Dunston.

Scarborough Athletic required a replay for the second round in a row to progress, however they are still in the FA Cup after victory over Ashington. Scarborough required an injury time equaliser in the first game on Saturday, before winning the replay 1-0 thanks to a second half Gary Bradshaw strike.

Northwich Victoria suffered the cruel fate of being knocked out of the cup on penalties on Tuesday night. Despite leading their replay away to Glossop North End 2-0, they were unable to hold on, and ultimately lost on the dreaded spot kicks, 4-2.

Farsley progressed at the first time of asking, as they beat Frickley Athletic 2-1 at home. An own goal along with a Robert O’Brien strike was enough for the win, in the next round they travel to Gainsborough Trinity.

Ossett Albion and Droylsden met, with Droylsden coming out on top convincingly. Stephen Hall and Ben Deegan both scored in the first half, with Ciaran Kilheeney scoring a further two in the second period, to give The Bloods a 4-0 victory.

Bamber Bridge needed extra time to overcome Squires Gate in their tie. Both games finished 2-2 after 90 minutes, before Matt Mahoney scored the all important winner in the replay with just five minutes of extra time left.

Prescot Cables had a tough tie on Sunday as they travelled to FC United, unfortunately for Prescot they were easily beaten, with a stoppage time consolation from Jonathan Bathurst the only positive in a 4-1 defeat.

On Saturday Burscough were knocked out at home to Curzon Ashton, Matthew Warburton scoring the only goal of the game for Curzon in the 73rd minute.

Harrogate RA came from behind to beat Clitheroe, 3-1, with goals from Colley, Ibrahimi and Cartman. In the next round they have a trip to Wales for their tie at Colwyn Bay.

Ossett Town have been knocked out at the hands of Marine. James Davies had levelled for Ossett, but Marine won the game 2-1, with a goal from Lewis Codling.

Radcliffe Borough lost in a seven goal thriller away to Skelmersdale United. They had taken an early lead in the first minute through David Sherlock, before they found themselves 4-1 down with ten minutes to play. Michael McGinlay and Daniel Lafferty gave Radcliffe late hope, but they could not snatch an equaliser as they lost 4-3.

Warrington Town beat Trafford 1-0, the only goal coming via Scott Metcalfe from the penalty spot half way through the first half. They have another home tie in the next round, this time against Sheffield.

Brighouse Town suffered late heart break at home to Ashton United. Brighouse had taken the lead through Ryan Hall, before Matthew Chadwick levelled for the Evo-Stik Premier side. Ashton went onto win the game in stoppage time, 2-1, through Ashley Young.

The final team from our division to progress was Lancaster City. They scored five times in twenty minutes away to West Allotment Celtic. Tom Kilfin, Ryan Winder, Gavin Clark and two from Aaron Taylor saw Lancaster cruise into the next round with a 5-0 win.

Away from the FA Cup action two games took place in the league. Mossley moved up to eighth in the league table after a 3-2 win away to second bottom Kendal Town. Mitchell Bryant scored twice with Dean Warburton getting the other.

Padiham remain bottom of the table after another defeat, the latest 3-2 at New Mills. With the game still level at 2-2 going into injury time, the game looked to be heading for a draw, but Dominic Marie popped up to score the winner with his second of the game.

This Saturday we have a huge league fixture at home to league leaders Salford City. On Tuesday we travel to Radcliffe Borough, a side who have had a good start to the season themselves.
