Evo-Stik Round Up Week 25

Evo-Stik Round Up Week 25

Simon Hahn's weekly Evo-Stik round up. Darlington returned to the top of the league table after two wins this week. On Saturday we cruised past Ossett Town, 5-0, including a first goal for the club for striker Nathan Cartman. On Wednesday we came from behind to win away at Padiham, 3-1.

Salford City slipped to second after their clash at Prescot Cables was called off on Saturday.

Northwich Victoria suffered a surprise defeat at home to Lancaster City. Tom Kilifin scored the only goal of the game in the 70th minute for Lancaster, as Northwich fell to only their second home defeat of the campaign.

Scarborough Athletic are in fourth place after a victory at home to Clitheroe. Gary Bradshaw and a Thomas Corner penalty gave Athletic a 2-0 lead at the break. Ross Dent did pull one back late on for Clitheroe, however they still lost the game 2-1.

Droylsden snatched a crucial late winner away to Warrington Town to keep themselves in a playoff position. Scott Metcalfe gave Warrington the lead in just the second minute from the penalty spot before goals from Stephen Hall and Ciaran Kilheeney turned the game in Droylsden’s favour. Metcalfe grabbed his second to level with Dean Astbury then giving Warrington the lead 3-2. However the Wire saw the game slip away in the final minutes with Kilheeney levelling four minutes from full time, before he completed his hat-trick in stoppage, as Droylsden snatched all the points with a 4-3 victory.

Warrington bounced back on Tuesday night, though, as they won 2-0 away to Ossett Town. Metcalfe opened the scoring with Christopher Gahgan doubling the Wire’s lead.

Harrogate RA will be disappointed to have been held away to bottom of the table Padiham. Jerry Yates had given Harrogate the lead, but Brett Ormerod levelled from the penalty spot to earn Padiham a 1-1 draw.

Bamber Bridge picked up three points with a 3-2 victory away to Brighouse Town. Curtis Thompson scored twice as they went 2-0 up with Tyrone Gay pulling a goal back for Brighouse before the break. Alistair Waddecar made it 3-1 from the penalty spot, with Brighouse scoring a late consolation thanks to Ryan Hall.

Farsley missed a chance to climb the table after being held at home by Burscough. Lewis Nightingale twice gave Farsley the lead from the penalty spot, however Edward Toner and William Jones both scored as Burscough came away with a 2-2 draw.

The final game of last weekend saw Ossett Albion claim a 1-0 victory at home to Radcliffe Borough. Connor Bower scoring the only goal of the game from the penalty spot on the stroke of half time.

This weekend we have the relatively short trip to face Harrogate RA. Salford City hosts New Mills and Northwich Victoria go to Bamber Bridge.
