Darlington had a great Bank Holiday weekend, as they picked up two crucial victories, 5-2 against Droylsden and 2-1 away to Scarborough Athletic.

The wins keep us in control of own destiny, knowing that four victories from our final four games will seal the title. We may have to do this as title rivals Salford City do not look like slipping up either. They still lead us by three points, having played a game more. Their final three games are all against teams in the bottom half of the league table, starting with a home fixture against Clitheroe this weekend.

Ahead of the fixture Martin Gray has been drumming up support.

“We’ve got two home league games left, if you’re a Darlington fan and don’t want to watch us now when we’re going for the championship then you’re never going to.

“We need 2,000 people in on Saturday making a lot of noise and the kid behind the goal beating the drum. It makes a difference, players rise to it, the players love it.

“I want to see the town supporting their football club, come and support us in a big game.”

Terry Galbraith was not in the squad on Monday, but he returns to the squad for the game this weekend.

Our opponents are Mossley, who following a great 2015, have faint play-off hopes. They are just one place, but six points outside the playoffs with four games to go and would need to realistically win all of their remaining games to have a chance. They won their last game on Bank Holiday Monday, 2-0, at home to New Mills.

Gray said, “Having been to watch them, it will be another tough game, especially as they're pushing for a playoff place. They need to win to keep their hopes alive, so it's going to be an interesting game.

"We have to keep going the way we are. The lads have played very well in recent matches, and they know what's required to win our last four matches."

In November we were able to cruise to a 3-0 victory in the away fixture, thanks to goals from Galbraith, an own goal and a fantastic strike from Stephen Thompson.
