Quakers beaten 3-0 at Chorley

Quakers still looking for first away league win

Chorley 3 Darlington 0

Horbury (8 mins, 1-0), Touray (25 mins, 2-0, 61 mins 3-0)

Quakers never recovered from going an early goal down and were beaten 3-0 at Victory Park.

They went behind after eight minutes to an effort by George Horbury, and it got worse when Mo Touray scored the second from the penalty spot before the half hour mark.

Quakers had more chances after half time, but it was Touray who scored the third for the hosts, who have now beaten Quakers in the last four meetings between the teams.

It was a night of mistakes by Darlington that Chorley punished.

Chorley got the first corner of the game on the left hand side, but the inswinger was headed away by Toby Lees.

Chorley then had a long throw in from the right, but the referee penalised the home side for a foul in the area.

Quakers fell behind after 8 minutes, when they lost possession just inside their own area, and the ball ran to George Horbury who moved inside and curled a left foot shot from just inside the area, that went into the net off the left hand post.

Quakers replied when a Barrow free kick from the left was headed away eventually as far as Will Hatfield, who volleyed first time towards goal, and keeper Matt Urwin dropped to his knees and saved.

However, Hatfield went off injured a few minutes later, and was replaced by Joe Leesley.

Good play by Caden Kelly stretched the Chorley defence on the left, and when the ball came into the middle, Kallum Griffiths was pulled up for handball.

Chorley were awarded a penalty on 25 minutes when Kallum Griffiths was adjudged to have pulled back Craig Hewitt as he burst into the area, and Mo Touray scored from the spot.

Quakers tried to hit back, and Barrow floated a free kick over from the left for Elliot Forbes to put in a glancing header that went just wide of the right hand post

Chorley returned to the attack, and the ball came in from the right hand side for Mark Ellis to head just over the bar.

Quakers nearly pulled one back on 43 minutes. A deep free kick by Barrow from the left was picked up on the opposite side by McGowan, who crossed into the near post where Forbes headed just over the bar.

Half time 2-0

At the start of the second half, Jameson came quickly off his line to hold a free kick from Adam Blakeman, and collided with one of the Chorley players, who needed treatment.

Main made a good run down the right and crossed towards the far post, but Urwin managed to hold his cross.

Chorley nearly got a third on 57 minutes, Calveley played the ball into the box for Touray to backheel for Moore who hit a first time shot that Jameson blocked with his legs.

Quakers responded with a free kick by Barrow that went to the far post where Lees headed wide.

However, it was 3-0 on 61 minutes when Touray won possession and broke into the area down the right, and coolly sidefooted past Jameson.

Quakers made a sub on 66 minutes, Andrew Nelson coming on for Main.

However, Chorley went looking for a fourth, and Jameson went full length to save an Adam Blakeman piledriver

Quakers made more subs on 70 minutes, Ali Alshabeeb and Matty Cornish coming on for Jack Maskell and Will McGowan.

Quakers had their best chance yet on 76 minutes when Forbes nodded down a Joe Leesley free kick from the right for Matty Cornish to have a point blank effort saved, and when the ball came back in from the right to the far post, Nelson volleyed over the top.

There was another chance when Alshabeeb chased a ball into the area and rolled it back for Nelson, who put the ball over the top from ten yards.

There was another chance when Barrow made a good run down the left and crossed to the far post, where Cornish volleyed wide
