Darlington assistant manager Brian Atkinson wasn’t getting too carried away by the 8-0 victory after the game at Bishop Auckland last night.

It’s a long time since Quakers won by an 8 goal margin in either a league game or a friendly, but Atky was fairly laid back after the game.

“The players did what we asked them to do. There was a little bit of rustiness in the first half, and we maybe didn’t play as well in the first half as we should have done, but maybe that’s nitpicking.

“Overall, the players showed great attitude , and their desire and work rate were very good. There was some good forward play, especially in the first half.

“I was very happy that Graeme Armstrong scored twice. He took his opportunities well, and the most important thing was that he got some game time. He’ll be playing again on Friday night at Spennymoor.”

Friday night's game at the Brewery Field will be the last in Quakers' pre season build up.
