We host Brackley Town this Saturday looking to make it back-to-back league wins (writes Simon Hahn). Last Saturday Mark Beck’s first half penalty gave us a 1-0 victory over struggling Stalybridge.
However, all of the other top seven sides in the league won, so we still remain a point outside the play-off places. However, we go into the game with a record of having lost just twice in the last nine league matches.
Brackley sit ninth in the table, five points behind ourselves and six points off fifth. They have gained more points on the road this season than at home. In their last league match they lost 1-0 at home to Salford City.
This campaign marks a remarkable change in fortunes for Brackley who only survived relegation on the final day of last season. Alongside success in the league they have had fantastic runs this year in both the FA Cup and FA Trophy. In the FA Cup they knocked out Football League side Gillingham after a replay, before losing to Blackpool in the second round. In the FA Trophy they reached the quarter-final stage, but were beaten 1-0 by York City.
When we met at Brackley in October we were held to a 2-2 draw despite taking the lead twice through Stephen Thompson and Josh Gillies.
