Striker joins League One club -- and is loaned back to us for the rest of the season

Harvey celebrates after scoring against Telford earlier in the season

Darlington striker Harvey Saunders has today signed for League One side Fleetwood – but he will stay on loan with us for the rest of the season.

Harvey, 21, has matured into a very good player this season and has been a regular in the starting line up. He has scored seven goals this season, bringing his total since he joined us from Durham City in January 2017 to 11 in 25 starts and 45 sub appearances.

Darlington manager Tommy Wright said: “Harvey has improved immensely this season, and he’s proved that he’s ready to make that step up to Football League level.

“Not only does he score goals, but he does a lot of positive things that people don’t see. He is eager to learn, and he takes everything on board.

“I’m sure that he’ll continue to improve and be a big success at Fleetwood.”

Part of the deal with Fleetwood is that Harvey – who is moving for an undisclosed sum with clauses added – will return to us on loan for the rest of the season.

We’re sure that every Darlington fan would like to wish Harvey every success for the future, and that he scores plenty of goals over the rest of the season.
