Foundation gearing up for half term courses

Hoping to build on summer success

Darlington FC’s Foundation is hoping to follow up its successful summer coaching courses during the forthcoming half term break.

For the first time during the summer , the Foundation ran both a soccer course and a multi sports course, and both achieved great attendances from children in the town.

Head Foundation coach Liam Coates said; “During the summer holidays we worked with a whole host of children from many schools within the town and surrounding areas – we reckoned that there were at least 24 schools represented. There were boys and girls of all abilities, aged from 5 to 13.

“There were at least 50 children per day using the fantastic facilities in the Dolphin Centre. As well the football, they participated in swimming, badminton and virtual classes, which are all great forms of exercise.

“It doesn’t matter how good a child is at these sports – the main things are to help them to stay healthy and to improve their social skills. Lots of the children made new friends and established understandings while they were on the course, and I’m sure that they’re looking forward to coming back later this month.

“It’s sure to be a great week, especially as there will be surprise guests joining us on some days. One of the Darlington players, Omar Holness, joined us last time, and the children loved him!”

Our half term Football and Multi Skills Sports Camp takes place between Monday 28th October and Friday 1st November in the Dolphin Centre, Darlington. The cost is £10 per day or £40 for the full week. Details are available on 07903 614570 or via the DFC Foundation website www.darlingtonfcfoundation.org.uk.

The Foundation welcomes children between the ages of 5 to 13, regardless of gender, religion, race, nationality or colour.
